Where I've Been. Where I'm Going.

Wow! I feel like it's been forever since my last blog. A lot has been going on since I last updated, some of which I'll share with you once I find my USB cord for my camera (arg!).

One of the most exciting things I've done since my last post was move into this awesome house.

With these silly girls.

Chelsi

Daleena

One of the fun things about living with these girls is that they scare SUPER EASY! Scaring each other has become a competition in the house and below you can tell who's #WINNING!

I've also decided to become certified as an Drug and Alcohol Counselor, which means I successfully marked  number 16 off  THIS LIST.

16. Apply to grad school or decide not to attend grad school for a while.

There you have it! Quick update of my life.

Enjoy!

Walk A Mile OKC!

As most of you know I currently work for Child Welfare in Oklahoma County. This job has been such a blessing in my life, there are so many wonderful things about my job that I love, I get to be apart of families, practically help put them back together. My job defiantly has its ups and downs, but what job doesn't? Everyday after work I say a little prayer for all the families I've come across daily during my drive home. During this prayer I also thank God for so many families that have individually blessed me and have been apart of my life. One of the many aspects of my job is placing kids in foster care home. Oklahoma has 8046 children in foster care, however we do not have 8046 foster homes. This is such a HUGE issue. Because of the shortage of (good) foster care homes in Oklahoma our kids are forced to move from home to home or in some cases shelters when foster parents simply give up on them.

I write this blog today to encourage you to get involved with an event happening in OKC on April 30th, 2011. This event is called ‘Walk A Mile’. Simply put this event is a 1-mile family friendly walk to promote awareness of good foster homes. If you would like to walk please visit the website HERE and sign up. If you would like to be my walking buddy just let me know.

Blessings!

Apology.

I'd like to apologize to all innocent drivers in the Edmond, OKC area who may witnessed me making obscene body gestures from my car. I really can't help it, once I get in my car the first thing I do is turn my ipod on and turn the volume up to the MAX. (I DON'T care what this does or will do to my ears). I love music and grooving while driving. 9 out of 10 times I'm jamming out to the likes of Katy Perry, T-Pain/Chris Brown, Carrie Underwood, Ne-Yo/Pitbull even a little Zack Brown Band (I'm so diverse). If you see me on the road, don't panic I'm having fun making a fool out of myself. Keep your eyes on the road and I'll do the same.

"Oh cleanser of the mess I've made"

I'm normally not a lyric posting blogger, but this song has been on my heart since Sunday night. We are such mess makers of our life, but Christ mercy is so wonderful and awesome that he cleanse those messes for us.
"For All You've Done"
Oh cleanser of the mess I've made
Upon the hill our places trade
Stretched on a cross Your body crushed
By human hands You formed from dust
Chorus
How wonderful Your mercy is
How awesome are Your ways
I come, I come
To worship You
For all You've done
Oh cleanser of the mess I've made
Your boundless love for me portrayed
With patience for my learning curve
By holding back what I deserve
Chorus
Oh cleanser of the mess I've made
With everything at Your feet laid
I watch as all my cares erode
And from my soul these words explode
Chorus

I love March!

Yes, March is probably my favorite month of the year. If you know me, you know that it's partly because it's my birth month and partly because I LOVE spring weather. This March will be especially great because of my new adventures and projects.

One of the things I'm most excited about this month is moving in with my former roommate Daleena. We now have a house in Edmond that we get to move in to at the end of March. One of the great-yet stressful things about moving in to this house is getting to paint and decorate. After looking through a number of decorating magazines and constantly checking out Pottery Barn's website I finally found a wall color for my room and the main bathroom.

My bedroom will be this daffodil color...
Eventually I would like my new space to look similar to this one...

Lucky for you there will be a LOT of DIY projects on my blog. Starting with this lamp.

This is just one of the many things I'm excited about during the month of March.

Besides turning 24, (only one more year until my insurance goes down) I get to celebrate my favorite holiday, St. Patrick's day, by wearing green just about every day of the month. I get to attend Spring Sing as an alumni (finally) and I get to see Beauty and the Beast with one of my good friends. Not to mention celebrating my birthday with different friends and family every weekend. Yes, my weekends are already booked. :)

I hope you guys have a fabulous March. Keep checking back for house and DIY projects!
