New Year...New Blog?

I'm not making promises or resolutions, but I hope to keep up with this blog in 2011.

I am currently sitting by the fire in Breckenridge, Colorado soaking up the warmness of wonderful friendships and relaxation time. That's correct, I'm on vacation! Below is a little sneak peek of the awesomeness I'm experiencing.

I hope to post more vacation pictures and blogs after my vacation!

Happy New Years!

The Thankful Thirty: Day 7-24.

I do indeed apologize for my blog post neglect. I have not had an ounce of time to sit, think and write. Today, I will give you know my Thankful Thirty for days 7-24. Just so you know, i've had a running list of what I was thankful for during those days, I just never had time to sit and fully think them out. Enjoy!

  • Day 7-11/07/10- I'm thankful for the opportunity to serve a God freely.

  • Day 8-11/08/10-Today I am thankful for dinner and a movie with a great friend. I love catching up.

  • Day 9-11/08/10- Today I am thankful for the prayer Bible study I'm apart of. The book we are using is; Becoming a Women of Prayer. I'll suggest this book to any woman feeling stumped in their prayer life.

  • Day 10-11/10/10-Today I am thankful for my "after church lets hangout at chickfla or star bucks group". There is never a dull moment.

  • Day 11-11/11/10- SO THANKFUL for Meagan and Daleena. All the laughters, prayers for each other, and the bond. L-word!!!

  • Day 12-11/12/10- Today I am thankful for my warm apartment.

  • Day 13-11/13/10- Today I'm thankful for tissues, medicine, and my bed. Sick day!

  • Day 14-11/14/10- After spending the weekend in the apartment being sick. I am defiantly thankful for FRESH AIR!

  • Day 16 & 17- 11/16-11/17- I am thankful for a two day legal training that I should have learned in CORE training. Nevertheless, I learned valuable information that will hopefully precent me from making mistakes, and being fired. :)

  • Day 18-11/18/10- I am thankful for my co-workers. You know which ones.

  • Day 19-11/19/10- Today I am thankful for Harry Potter 7 Pt. 1. Even though my bed time is at 10:00pm, I'll take one for the team and it was worth it!

  • Day 20-11/20/10- Today I am thankful for my job. Even if I have to work on a Saturday.

  • Day 21-11/21/10-Thankful once more for a truthful and wonderful worship service at MRCC.

  • Day 22-11/22/10- Today I am thankful for random movie nights with Daleena.

The Thankful Thirty: Day 4

Almost 4 years and counting...

Today I am thankful for friendships and traditions. Since our Sophomore year of college, Jill and I have watched Grey's Anatomy together almost every week. We also eat sushi together periodically throughout the season and defiantly during the season finale. We are avid watchers, and prefer no interruptions...ok...not really, but we do LOVE this tradition and I am so THANKFUL that I get to share it with her.

Cute socks/shoes and Grey's.

The Thankful Thirty: Day 3

Today I am thankful for technology! Skyping with my really good friends Ben and Melissa they are exactly 1,333 miles away from me, but we still find time to chat.

The Thankful Thirty: Day 2

I supported Mary Fallin today with my vote...

Today I am thankful for choices. Thankfully as American Citizens we have a voice in what happens in our country. Sadly not everyone takes advantage of this right, but instead sit and complain about the choices that were made for them. I hope you voted today.

Pray for our nation and its leaders.

The Thankful Thirty: Day 1

I've taken a blogging challenge from this guy. For the next 30 days I will post things that I am thankful for in the form of pictures.

Today I am thankful for the cooler weather and all its perks. I love cuddling up with hot chocolate and a F.R.I.E.N.D.S dvd on a chilly evening like tonight. Oh, don't forget the fresh baked cookies. Enjoy.

Stick close by and enjoy the next 30 days and remember to count your many blessings.

Weddings and Reunions

I love weddings. I especially love weddings when I am able to reunite with great friends. This weekend my good friend Sarah L. married her beau in a very romantic and celebratory way. During this wedding I was able to hangout with so many great people whom I have known since freshman year of college. This was yet another reason I am thankful for Oklahoma Christian University. At OC I met so many wonderful people most of which I am still very connected to and who have been there for me and have help me grow into a great person. I am very thankful and blessed to have all of guys in my life. Below are some of my favorite pictures from the wedding. Enjoy!

I met Amanda sophomore year while rushing club together.
Amanda and Roxy
Sarah K. and Daleena. Love these ladies!
From little freshman babies to young adults.

My Lizard, Miss this girl.
This guy deserves his own photo.
Brandon-great kid.
We are defiantly missing a few people, but I sure do love these guys.

How to make a diaper cake

Hello Bloggers! I have greatly missed you or at least my readers missed you. After a lot of wonderful text messages, face-book messages, and photo comments I have decided to blog about making a diaper cake. Well here you go people.

Ingredients for a diaper cake:

60 Diapers-Size 1
Ribbion-1 1/2 inch- your color/design of choice.
60 small clear rubber bands
6-12 large rubber bands
One 4 oz bottle
One large bottle of baby lotion or 8 oz Bottle.
1 cardbord or plastic cake platter
Baby Items -baby socks, confetti, toys, bibs, onesies etc.

Bottom Tier- Roll about 35 diapers starting at the top of the diaper (where it opens) and continue to the end. Don't forget to secure the rolled diapers with the small rubber bands. Place the first 5-6 diapers around the lotion bottle and hold them together with 1 large rubber band. Continue 2 more times around the lotion bottle, all together the bottom tier should have 3 rings of diapers. Your first tier should look similar to this:

Middle Tier- Continue to roll diapers and stack on top of the first tier. This time we will only have 2 rings instead of three like the bottom tier. Use large rubber bands to attach diapers to the lotion bottle.

Top Tier- For the final tier use the 4-oz baby bottle as the base and attach diapers around it. You will only make one ring around the bottle this time. Your diaper cake should look similar to this by now.

You can now use the ribbon to wrap around the cake covering the brown rubber bands. Don't forget to decorate to your liking. Add all kinds of fun baby toys, onesies, pacifiers even small blankets. Personalize the cake to your parent's to be theme. This is a great idea for baby showers, and don't worry mommies, all diapers are useable.

Here are the two cakes I made recently for two great friends!

Proud Moment

I am probably the worst person in the world when it comes to directions, not kidding. I can get lost driving around Edmond and I've lived here for 5 years now. Because I am so directionally challenged I thought I would share with you my proud moment for today...ready for it?

I made it all the way to my destination in Tulsa today without my GPS and with all the crazy construction going on up here. Granted I've driven up here at least 4 times in the last 2 weeks I should be a pro by now. Lets see if I can get home with old 'Gar Gar'.

I'm very proud of myself.

Magazines

Apparently I own way too many magazines...What do you think?

There is a logical reason as to why I own/hoard/purchase so many magazines. You see, one day I want to build a house, so I buy Southern Living Homes Floor Plans. I love to cook, so I receive Better Home and Garden, and Kraft Foods magazines. I also love and admire those who decorate, therefore I have six...count them SIX Veranda Decorating magazines. Finally, if you know me well then you know I'm obsessed and LOVE Martha Stewart (minus the whole inside trading business) so I also receive Martha Stewart Living.

I love getting cool ideas and inspirations from magazines such as these so that's why I keep them around. I also like to tear out my favorite articles and save them to a binder so that one day I am able to go back and try all the fun recipes, decorating, and fashion tips. See, there is a reason to my madness.

Just for fun I will leave you with my top three favorites.

#1-Martha Stewart Living
#2- Southern Living
#3- Real Simple

What are you favorite magazines?

One day I'm going to move to Tulsa...

...For real! I LOVE Tulsa and I am slightly jealous of some of you natives. Have I been living under a rock? How did I miss all the amazing shopping, beautiful trees and lovely older homes? Friends from Tulsa, thank you for keeping the greatness of your city under wraps.

Here are some pictures of my quick trip to Tulsa.

Telephone Booth in Utica Square...it smelt just like Europe...urine and all.

Ummm. Yeah. Found a Burberry Scarf for $250. No, Thanks!

Just doing a little reading...

Of course I had to stop by my favorite store. I could just live there!

Act like a penguin...

Went there. Did that...

Saw a shark. Had a blast.

Like I said before...One day I'm going to move to Tulsa.

Songs I'm diggin' and why.

Before I began at OC I had never been much of a Christian music listener. Even throughout my time at OC Christian music had never been my first choice for musical entertainment. Lately I have challenged myself to become more open to positive music verses secular music, since then I have found myself becoming encouraged and positive throughout the day just by listening to stations such as K-LOVE and AIR-1. Both stations are in the business of encouraging one through songs of faith and praise. Listed below are a few songs that have been of great encouragement while I have challenged myself.

1. Lead Me by Sanctus Real-“Lead me with strong hands; Stand up when I can’t.

2. Hold Us Together by Matt Maher- "Love will hold us together;Make us shelter to weather the storm."

3. Undone by FFH- "You're still by my side when all the things I've done have left you bleeding."

4. My help comes from the Lord by The Museum- "Out of darkness I lift my eyes. Unto the hills I feel my faith rise."

5. To Know You by Casting Crown- "To know you is to feel the pain of the broken hearted."

What are your favorite encouraging songs of faith and praise? Please share and enjoy.

ART: Love it. Live it.

Dear Chelsi, I'm updating just for you.

I love the ARTS. I love music, photography, performing arts, films, literature, and a very select few visual arts (Abstract art is NOT my favorite. I just don't understand it.). Photography is under the visual arts category normally, but I like to think of it in its own little category.

This week I was able to attend the awesome Sketch to Screen: The Art of Hollywood Costume Design at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. This was probably one of my favorite exhibits that have come to the Oklahoma City Museum. There were so many different costumes from the early 1920's to present day worn by some of Hollywoods brightest stars, including...

The beautiful and talented Audrey Hepburn. This costume is from Funny Face and was featured at the exhibit.

Original costumes from the Super Man himself.

My all time favorite costume shown at the museum was from the 1986 film Three Amigos. Steve Martin's costume was the only one on stand.

Like I said above there were so many awesome costumes at the OKCMOA, I would encourage all of you to visit it before they are all gone, which is August 15th, 2010. I would also encourage you to support the OKCMOA by visiting often or even becoming a member.

Pictures from the day at the museum:

Have a great week, go get your Art on!

Ten Guilty Pleasures

and they are...

10. Sleeping in on the weekends or until 9- Considering I wake at 7 throughout the week, 9 is pretty great.

9. One Hit Wonders- Ice Ice Baby!

8. Listening to Plain White T's- 1,2,3,4 has been played 486 times on my itunes.

7. Using Wikipedia to research towns with cool names- Manchester, New Hampshire could possibly be my future place of residence.

6. Playing Sudoku- Personal record 4mins 32 secs.

5. Driving with windows down and music loud- Don't worry, I'm not one of those annoying people blasting rap, mostly just John Mayer.

4. Drinking Cranberry flavored water from Sonic- Replacing my soda craves.

3. Watching House Hunters- I really just want to buy a house after every episode.

2. Strawberries and powder sugar. Sometimes for dinner and I don't mind the itchy throat after.

1. Comedic Movies- Grown Ups, Office Space, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

What NOT to do...

As young women we are taught so many things.

How to dress...

How to sit...

How to flirt without being skanky. Yes, I said it!

How to be more like June Cleaver

and less like Roseanne Conner.

These are things we are taught to do and the proper way to do them.

I have a list of things, in my opinion we (women) should not do, and are consider impolite, and/or dirty to most. I could probably write for hours about those things, but I won't. Instead, I will share with you my top two dirtiest things women should not do.

SMOKE!

CUSS!

Seriously girls, find a new habit.
